This particular sculpture taught me a lot about what I can do with clay figures. The hard hat and tank treads provided a challenge and that experience will be implemented in future designs, you can count on it.
Although this model took me a long time to sculpt, I will be making similar models (nothing exactly like this one though) in the near future.

Steam Robot 2.0

by Gearz4Gutz available from Etsy

My father saved hundreds of his anthology periodicals such as Asimov, Analog, Fantasy & Science Fiction, Amazing etc.and kept them in a locker in our basement.

I loved to sneak one or two of them each night and read the short stories and novellas over and over again.  The stories within were always wonderful as was the fantastic cover art that adorned these pulp books of speculative fiction.

I draw a tremendous amount of inspiration from those old covers when I design and sculpt the robots that I sell.

This particular piece, "Steam Powered Robot 2.0" is one such example. Everything from the shapes that I used to his coloration can be directly attributed to the 1960s cover art from the books I loved to read with a flashlight under my covers at night.
